Mental Health Resources- NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all of those in need.

     Located in Altoona, PA, NAMI Blair County PA is a NAMI Affiliate. NAMI Blair County PA and dedicated volunteer grassroots leaders work together to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy and support group programs for people living with mental illness and their loved ones. NAMI Blair County PA addresses the mental illness needs of our community, replaces stigma with understanding and helps thousands of families and individuals each year.

     We provide referrals to county resources as well as mental health education courses, presentations to help remove the stigma of mental illness and support groups.

Steps to begin Recieving Services: Contact our office via email: office.blairnami@gmail.com or phone 814-327-7083 You can call or visit our website for dates and times of support groups and/or education classes. People are welcome to just show up to support group without advance calling. But registration is required for mental health courses. This allows us to know how much materials to have on hand. We do have memberships that give unlimited accesses to individuals and/or families to all of NAMI’S tools, services and supports. But, individuals may also attend mental health courses and support groups free of charge without a membership. Cost: Our services are provided at no cost to everyone Do you accept private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare: No need for insurance Benefits Counseling: We will give referrals for in this area Help to pay for services: Not needed. We occasionally receive donations to provide scholarships. Lexington Clubhouse Part of UPMC Western Behavioral Health of the Alleghenies

​Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program: Teaching independent living skills, social skills, and employment skills through the work order day of the clubhouse. Skills are taught by doing various tasks throughout the day.

To Learn more or begin recieving these services.... Steps to begin receiving services: Anyone can ask for a referral. The referral must be completed by a PCP, Certified Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, psychiatrist or psychologist. Eligibility Requirements: Must be Blair County residents aged 18 and over with a mental illness that creates a disruption to their life in some way. Qualifying diagnoses include major mood disorder, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and borderline personality disorder. Is there a fee for this? Yes. It is free, but the van makes one drop off in the morning and one pick up in the afternoon. While determining which resources are the best for you or your loved one, this organization would like you to know: We are a safe community for adults with severe mental illness to come and meet others with similar mental health experiences. Members work together to make and serve lunch, complete clerical tasks, and develop friendships.
